Pre-certification of eggs and egg products & administrative processing in e-CertNL
A veterinary health certificate from the NVWA is required for the export of table eggs and egg products to third countries. The requirements set by third countries can be found on the NVWA website via:
The NVWA is responsible for verifying compliance with animal disease requirements. Other declarations regarding public health, laboratory testing, the origin of the product or raw materials (including flock numbers), and applied heat treatments are verified by the COKZ. The NVWA can issue the final veterinary health certificate based, in part, on the checks performed by the COKZ.
The COKZ currently provides the necessary assurances in two ways: through pre-certificates or directly in e-CertNL. The COKZ is working with the NVWA to digitise egg certification by recording the checks directly in e-CertNL. This means that the issuance of manual pre-certificates will be phased out on a country-by-country basis during 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the role of COKZ in the export of eggs and egg products?
The COKZ oversees the entire supply chain in the Netherlands. Only products from a facility with an approval number may be exported. To ensure that the products meet the requirements for export, an export inspection is carried out when the consignment is ready for shipment.
