Supervision EU-hygiene Regulations
Supervision of Compliance with EU-Hygiene Regulations
The EU-hygiene regulations concern five EU-directives with regard to food hygiene.
COKZ has been commissioned by the Dutch authorities to supervise compliance with these hygiene regulations in the milk and dairy sector.
Requirements have been laid down in the said regulations for the primary phase (the production and delivery of milk) and the production phase (preparation of dairy products) as well as for implementation of the supervision.
EC-approval based on COKZ-inspections
COKZ carries out inspections at dairy companies. These inspections are the basis for the granting of EC health marks. Each dairy company must be approved in order to manufacture dairy products and place them on the market. Each company is obliged to display its unique EC health mark on the packaging of its dairy products.
The laboratories of the dairy companies that carry out analyses relevant to the directive on dairy hygiene must be approved by COKZ. For this purpose there is a laboratory register mentioning the laboratories and the analyses carried out.
